Shluchim Exchange and the Torah MCP
Merkos 302's AI platform for shluchim: a library of Chabad-tuned agents and prompts, and since June 2026 the Torah MCP that connects Claude or ChatGPT to Torah sources and shluchim tools. How to get in, what it costs, and the 2026 connection problems.
On this page
ShluchimExchange.ai describes itself as "an internal AI platform for Chabad Shluchim," a project of Merkos 302. It launched at the Kinus Hashluchim AI Day on November 13, 2025. It has two parts a shliach is likely to use:
- Agents and prompts that come pre-tuned for Chabad work, which you run on the site.
- The Torah MCP, a connector that brings Torah sources and Shluchim Exchange tools into your own Claude or ChatGPT.
Both need a Shluchim Exchange account.
Do not confuse it with the older Shluchim Exchange, the Merkos file-sharing and forum site for shluchim. They are separate products.
Getting an account
The site is in early access. Sign-in is required to see the prompts (the prompt pages send you to a login screen). To ask for access, use the contact link on the ChabadLabs Torah MCP page. In 2026, the team asked for your name, an email address (required, and a Chabad house or mosad address works best) and your place of shlichus.
The agents and prompts
Each prompt has its own page, runs on the platform, and can be "remixed" into your own copy. Agents members named in 2026 include:
- ChabadOne code agent, which writes page code ChabadOne accepts (XHTML 1.0). The instructions in February 2026: open the link, log in, use the agent, and don't click Remix unless you want your own copy. See ChabadOne Integration.
- Custom ChabadOne pages and emails builders.
- Flyer agent, which writes prompts for an image model rather than making the image itself.
- Clear Communication and Stop Writing Like a Robot, for editing.
- Spam and promotions-tab checker for email blasts.
- Torah agents, including a "deep thinking" agent.
- HTML print agent for printable pages.
In July 2026 all the Shluchim Exchange prompts were copied into the Master Prompt Library, so you can read and paste them without an account.
Related sites from the same team: haggadah.shluchimexchange.ai, a book maker that turns a template and plain-language requests into a printable Haggadah or booklet, and a Kiddush HaChodesh section at shluchimexchange.ai/kh.
The Torah MCP
Launched June 18, 2026. An MCP connector lets Claude or ChatGPT call an outside service while it answers you. This one gives the AI Torah and Chabad sources to quote from, plus Shluchim Exchange tools, so you can say "when quoting, use only the Torah MCP" and get fewer invented sources.
Address: https://mcp.shluchimexchange.ai/
Setup: Add the address as a custom connector in Claude or a custom app in ChatGPT, then sign in with your Shluchim Exchange account when asked. The ChabadLabs Torah MCP page has a copy button and short videos for both. For background on connectors, see MCP Connectors.
Cost: The builders said in June 2026 that the MCP is free and runs on your own ChatGPT or Claude plan, with no API bill. They also said the platform is free during the beta, and that paid plans for top models will come later alongside a free tier.
What is in it: At launch the builders described the library as "a bit from everything," with the goal of accuracy and relevance and more texts to come. One member who connected it in June 2026 saw only the shiurim agents at first, not every agent on the site.
Torah MCP or Sefaria MCP? They do different jobs. The Sefaria Texts MCP is the open library of classic texts and needs no account. The Torah MCP adds Chabad sources and shluchim tools and needs a Shluchim Exchange login. Many members connect both.
Connection problems in 2026
What members reported, and what was fixed:
- June 23 to July 20, 2026: Members reported ChatGPT asking them to sign in again and again, endless connect loops, and "network errors." Signing in with a Chabad.org account did not work yet.
- July 3, 2026: An outage on the builders' side, during fast beta updates, was fixed that evening. The builders said the older address (
shluchimexchange.ai/api/mcp) is "old and not as reliable." Use themcp.shluchimexchange.aiaddress. - September 16, 2026: A member asked whether the MCP still worked and how to add it in ChatGPT Business.
- October 21, 2026: The
mcp.shluchimexchange.aiaddress was up and asking for sign-in when ChabadLabs checked.
If it fails for you: remove the connector, add it again with the mcp.shluchimexchange.ai address, and sign in fresh. If it still loops, use the contact link on the Torah MCP page. Members also asked for a written setup guide alongside the videos.
The debate about it
When the MCP launched, a member pushed back: why not just tell the AI to use only Orthodox Torah sources? The answers in the group:
- An instruction does not give the AI the text. The connector does, and you can tell it to quote only from the connector.
- Another member said connectors take up a lot of the AI's working memory (its context window), and may matter less as models improve.
- A builder said finding and understanding Torah sources is partly a communal responsibility, not something to leave to OpenAI.
What to watch
- Prompts were written for the models of their day. Test an agent's output before you rely on it for something public.
- It is a beta. Keep a fallback (Sefaria, the sefer itself) for anything you need on a deadline.
