What it is

chat.qwen.ai is a multilingual LLM from Alibaba with free chat access. It is strong on translation tasks, especially Semitic languages.

The thread that put it on the map

After testing eight different LLMs, one member reported:

"I made many tests over 8 different LLMs and for pure translation I found Qwen to be ahead of any other LLM for pure translation (pesoukim, or any Hebrew text). He doesn't just give the translation, he also provides the etymology, the root (shoresh), occurrences, and a word-by-word transliteration. It's very practical. He also gives the context of the verse."

What the chat uses it for

• Hebrew translation with grammatical metadata: shoresh, etymology, and transliteration.
• Pasuk-by-pasuk parsing for shiur prep.
• Word-by-word Hebrew and English breakdown for baalei-tefillah references.

Strengths

• Pure-translation accuracy ahead of Claude, ChatGPT, and Gemini.
• Free.
• Provides grammatical analysis without being asked.

Weaknesses

• Not a general-purpose chat assistant.
• The UX is less polished than the big three.
• English writing quality is nowhere near Claude or ChatGPT.

When to use it

When the core question is "translate this Hebrew correctly and tell me what each word means." For everything else, default to Claude, ChatGPT, or Gemini.
