Lovable is the vibe-coding tool that opened the floodgates. "You can make it in 20 minutes" was a recurring phrase from January through March 2026.
What it is
lovable.dev is a generative web-app builder. A prompt yields a working web app (Tailwind and React, with a backend if you want one), deployed to a Lovable subdomain or your own. The subscription is credit-based, starting around $25/mo, with occasional free windows (notably about 24 hours in early March 2026).

Strengths
- Fast prototype to deployed app.
- Decent UI defaults (Tailwind plus shadcn).
- Hebrew support with some effort.
- Stripe and Zeffy integration baked in.
- Referral and gift-card distribution within the community.
Weaknesses
- Cannot import an existing repository. "lovable won't work for this as you can't connect the existing repo."
- Security concerns for anything user-facing with logins or payments (see Vibe Coding): keep banking out, do not connect to financial APIs, and get a professional review before deploying.
- Maintenance cliff. Incremental AI edits compound architectural drift.
- More expensive than Claude Code at heavy use.

The Megillah-app proof point

Open questions
- How to graduate from a Lovable prototype to maintained software without rewriting from scratch.
- A template that 200 shluchim can install, proposed often, not yet shipped.
